Kelly
Air Force Base Supervisory Survey
A short term project to assist the civilian transition office at Kelly
AFB to track supervisory training needs for the Air Logistics Center and
all subordinate organizations. A computer based survey consisting of 26
questions was completed and administered anonymously to 4,427 workers at
Kelly where the worker was asked to rate his or her agreement (agree-disagree
6 point scale) with a statement about their supervisor. Areas rated
included: management, support, communication, human development, decision
making, safety, and transition (base closure). Workers could also
write in comments and suggestions. A total of 780 supervisors were
rated (out of 1076 originally identified).
Overall averages for each organizational unit and subunit were calculated,
and those supervisors rated by more than one worker and who were rated
lowest in each category (management. etc.) were identified for possible
training or retraining. Narrative comments were briefly reviewed
to identify problem areas.
