Computerized Task-based Work Ethic Surveys
of Air Force Enlisted Specialties

Mark Bowler, IJOA & University of Tennessee

Dave Woehr, University of Tennessee

The Multidimensional Work Ethic Profile (MWEP) measures 7 factors of work ethic: centrality of work, delay of gratification, hard work, leisure, morality/ethics, self-reliance, and wasted time. The instrument has been administered to members of a variety of Air Force specialties. The purpose of the current study is to evaluate the usefulness of the MWEP as a secondary selection tool. Criterion-related validity will be assessed using a multi-rater on-the-job contextual performance measure. The construct validity will be assessed using cognitive ability and personality measures. This study will also examine the ability of the MWEP to predict on-the-job military attrition.
